2019!
This is the year of resurrection for my blog. Ha ha! I had to choose which one to maintain between Facebook and this so evidently I chose this. I just noticed that I prefer posting lengthy thoughts on Facebook and it made me realize that if I really want to express something without some people being so sensitive about it I might as well breathe a life to my blog. This way, I am the only audience to my angst and weirdness. Besides, one thing I noticed on Facebook is that I get unfollowed by people who may have found me a bit too much with my posts and I'm totally fine with that but when I did the same even if I still tried to reach those people I unfollowed they were offended. Friendship is until on a social media account only, huh? Sad reality, isn't it? Now, I just have to figure out how to get all of my pictures there, hmmmmm. One can't just easily deactivate. One must download butt loads of pictures first! Ha ha ha!
Hence the re-birth of my blog. As much as possible I will enjoy the perks of having a blog. Post things that interest me. Things that will make me a better person and things that I will always cherish with my 'gentle giant', self improvement and such.
Moreover, I wish to improve my skills in writing. I want creativity to flow and help me express my feelings and thoughts fluently in words. We'll see. But most of all, I just really need an outlet to vent. Ha ha!
To close this, I am looking forward to find out who among my friends would still be willing to connect even without Facebook. For those who chose to end it on Facebook so be it. Good riddance of me, right? Ha ha! Although I don't want to end this entry sounding like I am bitter. No, don't get me wrong. I am just really tired of Facebook. I want to break free from that place. I need this. This is me. I want my own place. Ha ha. Hello, ME! :D
Hello, 2019!

Forever To Go
Every anniversary is a milestone journey in marriage. Every couple goes through tough times. We had our share. We thought we were going to be screwed. We thought we were going to be homeless, penniless and anything more that could go less...but i never felt our love for each other gone less.
I am grateful to God for giving me someone to fight life, to celebrate it... to live it like there's no tomorrow and most especially to face every challenge it throws. I know your arms are always ready to envelope me with loving care whenever i face my devils. I am a strong woman now because I have a tougher guy supporting me. More than anything else, I am thankful that you are YOU... a simple man with a big heart.
Our journey has not even sailed that far yet. We still have a lot of storms to weather but knowing that you will be next to me and you trust God as our anchor, I can confidently say our ship is going to sail farther and gracefully.
We need to thank God that every time we open our eyes in the morning we see each other still and we feel the love instilled. Nine years down and forever to go.
Happy Anniversary to us, my hathome. I love you even more each day, my gentle giant.

How would i...
show my gratitude to the mother I only knew for 8 years in my life? How would I express the deep longing to have her around knowing that I was accused of killing her? Should I be scared to say that I miss her? That I shouldn't be missing her because I caused her death, anyway? How could the 8 year old little girl in me say that I miss her when at the time that little girl was hated, unwanted and maligned?
Sometimes I find myself wallowing in the voices of the people who accused me of her death. My soul anguishing as I see them one by one in my mind. And then the gnarling sets in. I couldn't help myself from being pulled down into the darkest pit where no one was there to help me out. No familiar faces, no love ones. NO ONE. I was alone.
Then I would start collecting memories from the 8 years that I saw her. She was there; stitching my notebooks, handing me a present wrapped in a small box; a matchbox with jewelry inside. She was there telling me to read aloud. In English. She was there singing, yes singing. She was singing at church, at home and at the studio. She was there encouraging me to sing. And then she was in her booth. Her voice waving on the air giving home tips to her listeners; mostly mothers. She was there in the family picnics. She was there reprimanding the four of us because we didn't take a nap in the afternoon. She was there defending me from a pervert man.She was there helping other people. She was there scolding the housemaids for listening to another radio station aside from her station. She was there attending school plays for me. She was there giving instructions to the dressmaker of the particulars of our dresses. She never made us wear retail clothing; they were always tailored. And lastly, she was there concealed by a curtain on a stretcher. I couldn't go to her because there was an excruciating pain from my waist down to my legs. I tried to crawl but someone saw me and picked me up. All I heard during that time were people praying and rebuking. I wanted to say, shut up people! I want to hear my mother. What is she saying? Is she looking for me? Is she angry at me for losing the other pair of my shoes? I never thought the accident was fatal. I thought we both made it; bruised and injured only. Apparently not. Her struggling voice was the last memory I had of her.
Growing up I learned to accept that no one's going to be there for me except God. I flourished into a woman whose heart depends and relies only to God. No family. No relatives. I worked hard and didn't bother anyone as I believed I have caused too much griefs and problems already. The distance from all the relatives became my safety net.
Now, I want to put up that net again. God knows how much I struggled to understand every detail of my mother's death. From now on, whoever relates to me should believe that I didn't kill my mother. Other than this, I don't have any business with anyone anymore. Life has a lot more to offer. I am not going backwards. There are more people needing help than spending every moment thinking that there are vultures who are just waiting to attack me again just to eat up the dead part of my past. I think I let down my net for a while thinking that things have changed but I was totally wrong. I was fortunate enough that the mask went down early. It saved me time and efforts.
Nay, only you and God know the whole story. However things turned out I never doubted the thought that you would love me unconditionally. All I can say right now is, THANK YOU. Thank you for giving me the chance to be called your daughter. Thank you for those eight wonderful-learning years of knowing you. I know you're the only person who wouldn't hate and judge me.

Your Birthday...
always reminds me that I am married to a wonderful man. A wonderful man whose wish is very simple for his special day; some baked potatoes. "What is tatoes, precious?" he he he.
A man who is not afraid to show who his hero is. Excuse me, I mean who his hero was. Ha ha ha!
A man who tries to act naturally! An oxymoron, he is! He he he.

What other way to wake him up than showing this?
And these!
My 'hathome', my gentle giant; it's another year for you yet you don't seem to age at all!
Thank you for your life and thank you for offering your life to God.
A man who is not afraid to show who his hero is. Excuse me, I mean who his hero was. Ha ha ha!
A man who tries to act naturally! An oxymoron, he is! He he he.

My 'hathome', my gentle giant; it's another year for you yet you don't seem to age at all!
Thank you for your life and thank you for offering your life to God.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I WOVE YOU!

The day the McGoofies didn't want to get up
The weather was so nice this morning. Got out, taught and then went back to bed. He he he. I crawled inside the sheet again and didn't want to get out of bed anymore. It was a bliss! The rain and the wind were enough lullabies for us. We were at the coziest place on the planet. :)
Here we are; the McGoofies, who wished work wouldn't pull us out of bed but no, eventually, we got up, made breakfast and taught again. Ah, life. You're treating us well. Thank you.

Happy Birthday to my mother in-law; my friend!
I am one of the few who is blessed with a very Godly and loving mother in-law!
Mom, thank you for being you and for always reminding us that life's real happiness is in simple things and spending time with family is a treasure. Thank you for your unconditional love and support. We are always grateful for your life. God bless you as you continue to touch other people's lives.
I can't wait to hug you again and smell your perfume. I remember I used to chase your scent after you left for work and then I would sit at your nook and savor the moment knowing that you were there and that you will come home at the end of the day. It made me relive my childhood, my early memories with my mother. Thank you. I love you and hope to see you again soon.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAMA! WE LOVE YOU,VERY VERY MUCH! HUUUUUUUGERS!

Half a decade of being married to YOU
I started this blog a year after we got married and now it's been 5 years since I was swept off my feet. This is for you, my gentle giant.
I want you to know that I am so blessed to have you even though you married a crazy and goofy woman. You understand me inside out. You seem to always know the things running in my mind. You even state them before I could. You read me like an open book. You know my past yet you assure me of a future with God forever.
You make me feel so secure that even if I look disgusting early in the morning you call me pretty. When was I ever ugly to you? NEVER. Thank you.
Thank you for eating every meal I prepare for you whether experimental or not (grin). You always know how to tickle my interests and challenge me on things that you know I can excel more. I was never creative. I never knew that I could do arts and crafts before you came into my life. I never baked nor owned an oven. All of these happened when there was you.
Your love for music and arts draws us more together most especially with the music that makes us closer to God. Your talent in music is exceptional yet you are very humble about it. It keeps me grounded.
Your humility always makes me realize that life is not about rush and glamour. It's how to make it meaningful. In you there's always assurance that life will be okay wherever we may be as long as we are together.
Lastly, I know that my security in this relationship is sealed with our covenant with God because you always lead me to it. I always look forward for tomorrows with you because I know you will always be there; smiling and calling me, little.
Thank you for the 5 wonderful years you've given me. Here's to us for more years as we continue to journey together.
I LOVE YOU. I will never get tired of saying it every chance I get.
HAPPY 5TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY, MY GIANT!

This blogger is still breathing
Yes, I am. Well, we are officially back in the Philippines! I am just declaring it now because it was a rough transition from so busy-from-work before leaving for the States and going back with barely having students at all! Also people thought we have transformed into a fountain of dough since we just got back from the US, duh?! I went there for a vacation not for work. Get it?!
Well, the trip back was amazing, adventurous and fun! Amazing because we got better seats and were upgraded since there weren't a lot of passengers. Adventurous because we were running inside the very big airport in Beijing just to catch our flight going here and fun because I was carrying Ramona, the ceramic doll my mother in-law gave me! She was the star of the trip, actually!
We were welcomed home with a banner made by our friend pastor , Pastor Felix. He and his family are just so sweet and kind!
I have a lot to post with regards to our house. Our brains have multitudes of plans in transforming our house into a dwelling that is actually pleasant and creative. We started by changing the wall paint but I am not divulging everything for now. I have yet to unwind before snoring, I mean sleeping. And blogging doesn't count so, adios anay! :d
Hangtud sa sunod! :)

Two "firsts", pictures, a video and details of Hathome's birthday.
It was my first experience to shovel snow using a mini red spade although it wasn't much of a help to dad who was actually doing all the job and was very goofy to have left trails of tiny lumps of snow for me to enjoy. It was fun! Also, I blurted my interest about sledding after he showed me the place they call "suicidal hill" where they used to sled during his youthful days. Dad then bought me a round-orange sled on Monday and announced that I was going sledding. Oh yeah! My response was, "Yeah? Yeah!" LOL! Had mixed emotions suddenly which was weird because we used to ride on a cart down hill with my friends when I was a kid without any adult supervision and it didn't matter if we broke bones. There was no snow to crash on only big rocks and stones to beat us. Talk about extreme sports, we invented it! I did both yesterday, shoveling and sledding, shikes!
Yup! That's me, having fun in the landing! :) Hehehe...
They all happened on "hathome's" birthday which made everything memorable! I didn't expect dad would want to go sledding soonest so when he asked me if I was ready and bundled I almost swallowed my tongue from shock but managed to respond a heck, yeah! Ha ha ha! Mom stayed home because she had to execute her powers in making her spell-binding lasagna! You better believe it! She makes the best one! And even though we lost dad's keys after we found hubby's lens while sledding, ha ha ha! We still had the ultimate fun a kid could ever ask! We arrived home so hungry and about ready to devour mom's lasagna and hubby's birthday cake.
Here's the video of my first attempt. My goodness, I could barely pick up myself with all the warmers I was wearing! Rofl! Have a good laugh! Beware: I sounded like a chimpanzee here. Ha ha ha!
About hubby's birthday, he received his present earlier in the morning among many other presents he got prior to it.
We did sing happy birthday before he blew the candles of his cake. We took a video but wouldn't dare post our horrible rendition. Ha ha! It was a great day for all of us! More so because Rich and little D stopped over in the evening to greet "hathome". :)

A Good Day to Die Hard
No, this is not a movie review nor a suggestion on how to die hard, WHAT? Ha ha ha! As hearts' day is a big deal to most people around the world, I, myself, am not very fond of it even when I was still single. It's bizarre because I am a confessed hopeless romantic person. Also, maybe because I always don't like going with the flow. Same with giving. I give because I love. My friends and family sure know that they are loved when out of nowhere I give something because I remembered them not because I was compelled by a holiday or something. Anyhow, like I said this post is not about a movie review nor a lecture about valentine's day. That was just a segue way. Ha ha!
I was transparent about my perspective of valentine's day to my parents in-law, nevertheless dad still bought flowers for the ladies. He and mom treated me and "handsome" to a movie at a place we can call "our very own", NOT! Ha ha! Actually, the name of the theater is AMC. The M and C stand for MACGUFFINS. Our family name is just two letters short to keep up to it (giggles!).For reference regarding the origin of its name just check the picture above. The facilities in this theater were high-tech. I didn't want to leave the restroom at all. I actually grabbed mom and took a pic of us inside. LOL! I just managed to take pictures of the tall mirrors and the lounge area. The hand dryer is not conventional, m.i.l. said it has a massage effect. I wasn't able to try it. The loo reminded me of the seat that replenishes its cover by itself at Chicago airport. Oh my dear country Philippines, we are so outdated! Ha ha ha! But I still love you to pieces!
The cinema has a bar and a restaurant also where your family and friends can dine and have a drink prior, during or after watching movies. That is if you drink since no one in the family does. Also, we weren't able to try the restaurant 'cause we already ate at our favorite Mexican place. :)

Grandma's Poem
A Parent's Need
When you are very little,
Our lives are so entwined;
There is a constant need for us,
For that, we are resigned.
As you go on to grow up,
And get to be a wife;
We parents like to feel we're still,
A small part of your life.
When you call up with questions,
Or need a helping hand;
It makes us very happy,
I'm sure you understand.
It's hard to let a child grow up,
And see the need expire;
It makes you feel your work's all done,
And it's time to retire.
But then the need appears again;
With grand-kids, oh so dear;
And life takes on new meaning,
Every time you have them near.
Freda M. Schwindt
Meeting and knowing grandma Freda is making me miss my other grandmother from my mother's side. They have a lot of similarities with the ways they care for their grandchildren. They make delicious jelly and quilts are must haves. Most of all they are both women of God. I can't thank and praise God enough for these great blessings. I love them to the moon and back. :)
Christmas
Who posts about Christmas a month after? Ahem! Anybody? Ha ha ha! Oh well, just let me so 'cause this is my blog (with matching puppy dog eyes here). Moving on, well, it was one of a kind experience spending Christmas in America and to be specific in Kansas with hubby's family. Christmas Eve was given a different meaning knowing that I come from an Asian country that celebrates it by staying up until midnight to have a sumptuous meal which then proceeds to exchanging of presents. Another thing is the time difference. Also, hubby's older and only brother had to leave on the 21st for Colorado to spend time with the relatives of his wife. The family somehow managed to have a nice big meal on Christmas day as Grandma once again went on snapping her old school camera, he he he. Presents given were all meaningful.
Talking about presents, don't you just like it when you receive non-store- bought presents? Something that your love ones made or did just to make you feel special? I bet you do. Mom and dad collaborated in making me a special paper towel holder using walnut and babingga woods. The handle is an antique door knob. I know I have a lifetime to brag about it. Another great thing was grandma's book of poetry with her poem published in it. The name of the book is COLLECTED WHISPERS. Her composition is on the first page since it's her copy but, now, it's ours. I was so touched by the gesture. Love magnanimously touched my tiny heart that left me speechless and teary. In return, I also made stuff for mom, grandma and sister-in law. Giving is good but giving without expecting something in return is much better. Just like what the season was all about. It's about Jesus's birth. God gave His son to save us from our sins yet He doesn't expect us to do the same. Just love Him back is all.
It's just this way, we celebrate Christmas because God is love and love unites our family therefore it should be the time that our family honors and glorifies God. After all, who wouldn't like to have a birthday party for Jesus? We all do, don't we? :)
Pictures of presents from my beloved McGuffin family and grandma Freda Schwindt. :)
Grandma's poem deserves another entry. Will do that soon. :)

Yitey yady! (little lady)
I am his yitey yady
This is what I always hear when our nephew is spending some hours with us. I am the little lady standing next to his train track and waiting for anything he offers or tells me. He is very verbose and a very good conversant as well. Little D (as we fondly call him) knows vocabularies that kids his age you wouldn't think you'd hear saying. Some of the words he uses are repose, repulsive, flammable and apparently. Our first play time was very memorable because he explained a lot of things about his locomotive toy and the WHAT and the Whatnot. I remembered asking him something more and he nonchalantly answered, "I don't know what to tell you anymore. I've told you a lot of things already." I tried not to crack up, but boy, was I tickled! Ha ha!
Another thing he likes doing is singing all of these songs from the videos he watches about trains. The most famous one is the song called, I LOVE BIG TRAINS. He would endlessly sing it and hubby has to go upstairs to avoid getting the l.s.s. Ha ha! The house is alive every time he is here. It's so much fun!
One touching moment was when he was seated next to me and suddenly he said, I am from Lawrence, Kansas so I answered, oh, I see. How about me? Where am I from? He said, you and you (pointing to my handsome) guys, are from the airport! We all cracked up! But he wasn't done yet. He then asked me, when are you going back to the airport? So I answered many more months and then we will go back to the airport. The reply was unexpected and was just so sweet, he reached for my arm and touched it while saying, I don't want you to go back to the airport. My heart melted! Dad had to say, not yet, don't worry, they will not go back there soon. Love filled the car. :)
This is a picture of us. He said, I will put my arm around you and then take a picture. Goofy little kid.
I'm pretty sure someone is going to bawl when that someone goes back to the airport. Ha ha ha! Later! :)

Thanksgiving
Another one of my firsts! How proud am I of my family here in Kansas? The answer is, VERY.
They are the most humble and generous people I've ever met. Thanksgiving dinner went so nice but was also full of family updates and goofiness. Learned the ingredients of pumpkin and Douglas county pies. I now declare pumpkin pie as my new favorite dessert. The latter one was so creamy and sweet because it was with pecans and chocolate chips. The star of the feast of course was the turkey which tasted awesomely flavored and tender. Dad is the best person to prepare this big bird.
We didn't take pictures or maybe we didn't even bother to take pictures because we were so into having quality time although grandma did bring her disposable camera. She's so adorable trying not to get her fingers cover the flash. She's an old fashion when it comes to taking pictures. Takes her camera to Walmart and have the pictures developed. Old but sweet, isn't she?
Another star of the day on Thanksgiving was our one and only nephew, Dimitri. He is very adorable and for his age he knows vocabularies that even his parents don't know where he heard or got. Words like,"apparently" and "repose". I am talking about a 3 year old little boy here. Isn't he smart? Will post more about him in the coming days. Oh, he is such a cutie!
Later in the evening we went to Kansas City to join the crowd at the town plaza for the annual Christmas lighting ceremony. It was fun and exciting as we cheered and did the countdown.
Here's the actual countdown and check out the crowd! (just ignore my shrieks and voice. ha ha )
The celebration ended with much love and care. We totally thanked God for the time He allowed us to gather. It was not only about food, it was about a real family, real parents, real love and real faith in God. Remember that there are a lot of things to be thankful for. Start with the life that God has given you freely and everything else will just add as details. I guarantee that you'll always be happy and thankful. ;)
Everything deserves thanksgiving, indeed. :)

I'm here!
It's true that when you value your time with your love ones you won't get a chance to do other things but enjoy. I still pinch myself from time to time to check if I'm really here in Kansas with "my handsome's" family. It's totally fun being a McGuffin. Parents in-law are so goofy people. God always knows where His children belong. Ha ha! My mother in-law and grandma are spoiling me to pieces and I don't have a plan of abusing that. They just make me feel that I am their daughter and granddaughter who they always wanted to have. How sweet of them! I think me and my sister in-law are the most pampered daughters. BLISS! :D
Evidently, days are flying so fast because I didn't realize Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I have so many first times this year! Can't exactly count them through my fingers! Ha ha! There are more celebrations to look forward to. One of my first times though and a memorable one was when the church of my in-laws hosted a send a shoe box filled with toys to unfortunate children. We had so much fun filling ours. It's nice to think that somewhere out there a child is going to have a very merry Christmas. It's not always that we get to be a channel of blessing so we might as well grab the chance whenever and however we can.
About the weather, I can say it's a bit crazy because there are days when it's warm and then the next day it drops hence the woozing and the sneezing all the time but I can't complain because I asked for it! LOL! Allow me to finish this here by just saying that there's so much love in this household that my tiny heart has a hard time processing all of it. I can't help but tear up every time a gesture is done or a love is manifested. How lovely are the works of the Lord that when HE blesses His children, they are always amazed and in awe! Wouldn't you?!
Later! :)

still kicking!
Hello, blog! Sorry for neglecting you, but hey, we made it safe to Kansas! Flying is not that appealing to me how much more taking 28 hours just to get to our destination (dizziness to the max!)Surprisingly, I didn't have a jet-lag contrary to what most people warned me about. Unfortunately, "my handsome" wasn't spared, he was woozy the whole week. Also, we got the bug from people here who throw fits with their flaring nostrils from cough and cold, boohoo! Although I feel bad for my in-laws for having it. It's hard to see your love ones hacking their lungs all the time. Sigh.
On a happy note, Autumn has officially started and I am enjoying the majestic beauty of the trees as their leaves turn into yellow, orange and red! It's a milestone experience for me and I had to pinch myself just to check if I am really here. So far, I am enjoying our stay. In-laws are great cooks so as grandma! Speaking of grandma, I love the smell of her house! I always feel like a child whenever I am at her place. Lots of baked goodies in there! I love her house in every detail she's done to it! I hope to post pics soon! M.I.L. is also a shabby chic kind of person. She collects a vast collection of family history trinkets. It's amazing how she's incorporated everything in their living room and bedroom. She's a genius!
We still have a long list to do and are static to make them all happen!
Pictures of the Autumn- NESS! :d

On packing and chaos
It's a bit chaotic in the house these past weeks. I actually don't know what to clear up first. Hubby has been going hitler in organizing everything in the house and I on the other hand am very slow in making things happen. I know I am bad. I always get this feeling whenever we need to move or travel. I tend to linger more in the house and not wanting to leave, yet I am ecstatic to hug my in-laws, soon! Also, amidst all the preparations we are making sure that Emil and Emmanuel will have a support group while we are in the States. God has provided that and will blog about it next time I get the energy to become more creative in writing than just merely ranting at what's happening in here now. I didn't know taking a vacation is stressful! It's supposedly fun! Why not just leave the house and fly?! LOL! That's what hubby said when he got fed up of me just sitting around and not being a good support force. I wish I could just zap everything! Zap there! Zap here! Whatever.
Later peeps!

Happy Campers!
Sorry for this delayed update because I got under the weather a bit and I had to attend to my dental concerns as well. I agonized for a day but it got done quick so everything is fine now.
Anyhow, kudos to all the sponsors namely:
Brian and Becki McGuffin, Mr. Song, Jinkie Honggo, Gilton Solis, Kimie Oshima, Kazuo Ugai, Hisatake Yamashita, Hiroyuki Ikegami, Fuji Hajime, Mitsutaka Tsuboyama, Masao Tanaka and Hajime Fujii.
Also to my prayer partners:
Yang Carcueva ,Fely Batilo, Mafe Racasa, Delia Villafranca, Niall and Joanne Corral, Kristie and Paul Benjamin and to all who silently followed the story and prayed.
Thank you all for the support and love shared to Emil and Emmanuel. So far the father and son have already settled in their new home. Emil got a job and Emmanuel is one happy camper. We have provided them not only a home but also a hope in this tested economy. God allowed all of us to be part of this big change in their lives.
All smiles for you, all!
A very happy father and a very cute son!
look who's active and giddy!
I haven't taken a picture of the bathroom yet as I was busy arranging all their stuff inside and talking to the owner of the property at the same time.. We were also trying to figure out where to put their cooking materials as we have to secure them away from Emmanuel because he's a whirlwind!
We have covered their provisions pretty much! Although the best treat is yet to come because we have arranged a good dinner and some stuff for the coming Christmas! We can all have a merry one! It's a relief to have the project done before we get to leave, but I ask for your continued prayers for them. We made it!
GOD IS ALWAYS GLORIFIED! THANK YOU, LORD!
P.S.
I will be uploading videos after I figure out how to flip them. Later! :)
